General Rules — For Every Class
  • Leashes: Inside the ring, dogs must be on a secure, non-retractable (no flexi) leash no longer than 6 feet. Dogs must not be able to back out or slip free from collars or harnesses.

  • Respect for all: Judges and staff are volunteers—they’re giving their time to help make this fun! Treat all judges and expo staff with kindness and patience.

  • Give space: Not all dogs (or humans!) enjoy close encounters. Please give plenty of room to other competitors while on the grounds and in the ring.

  • Kind handling only: If any handler is seen treating their dog harshly—whether in the ring or anywhere on expo grounds—they will be excused from the competition immediately. This decision is made at the sole discretion of event staff and is non-negotiable.

  • Be a good sport: If your dog becomes overly stressed or disruptive, please calmly remove them so everyone stays safe and the event stays positive.

Please be sure to read the information and rules below so you know what to expect

Stay Showdown (Obedience Challenge)Think your dog has the best stay? Time to prove it!
  1. All dogs enter the ring and spread out evenly.
  2. You'll have 30 seconds to position and cue your dog’s stay (sit, down, or stand).
  3. Once the timer starts:
    • No touching your dog.
    • Leash must remain loose—no pressure.
    • Your dog may adjust slightly within position (e.g., roll onto a hip in down) but may not change positions or step in any direction.
  4. The judge will add increasing distractions as time goes on.
Dogs who break their stay are eliminated. The last dog remaining wins!
